The Disney Magic Renovation! on 4/30/2013 by Franniepoppins

I am very excited about the upcoming renovation that is happening to the Disney Magic!  From September 7 through October 10, 2013 The Disney Magic will be in dry dock.  There will be new pools.  In particular there will be a water coaster called the AquaDunk!  Oh boy!!  Disney is planning a new atrium and a new restaurant.  The ship will see extensive changes and improvements.  I can't wait to see them in person.

SIMPLY MAGIC on 4/25/2010 by Paula

Well what can be said that has not already... simply MAGIC.. We had a wonderful time on our Western Carribean cruise. Too bad for a storm that kept us from Castaway Cay.. the sad part of that, if that is not enough, it was my sisters birthday on that very day... oh the disappointment!!! Just must go back! Highly recommend this cruise... DO IT, YOU WiLL love it!!!!

Typical Disney, would expect no less! on 2/5/2007 by Marissa

I have been on both the Magic and Wonder several times, and must say, both are beyond magical. As certified Disney addicts, my family knows darn close to EVERYTHING about Walt Disney World and vacationing there, and the cruises are by far and away our favorite trips. My particular favorite is the eastern Caribbean cruise. Both ships are immaculate (would you expect any less from Disney?) and the character touches are subtle. As much as people think that Disney cruises are for kids, they are far from. People who have been on the cruise and say that are just in all the wrong places. The good adult spots? Deck 4, the jogging deck, is silent most of the day, a perfect spot. Plus, the comfy wooden lounge chairs are almost always empty. Palo and the spa, too, are kid-free for obvious reasons. If you want a quieter dinner, pick the later seating. Parents of young screaming kids tend to pick the earlier seating to put the kids to bed early. And on Castaway Cay, you absolutely HAVE to go to the

The refurbished Magic is GREAT! on 11/30/2006 by Ahnalira

Everything is up several notches, imho  The category 3 stateroom has a much more spacious design, the teen area (The Stack) and the adult coffee house (The Cove) are PERFECT, and the food is up several notches!  I am eager to go again

Entertainment off the map! Good pizza! on 10/28/2005 by Ser Alan

I think for famillies there just isnt a better cruise ship than the Disney Magic. The kids really have it good on this ship with all the play areas and the pool.

Of course, as usual, I am reviewing from an adult perspective so I have to say that the Disney Cruise Line is not the greatest for adults. The things I love about the Disney Magic are:

  1. The pizza on this ship is fantastic, my favorite pizza of all the cruise lines Ive been on!
  2. The entertainment is among the best. I enjoy the Hercules show every time I see it. Great comedy, the night clubs are very good, the dance activities are often well attended and well done!
  3. The ship itself is very nice, gotta love those characters on the prow... I think its Goofy isnt it?

And now for the things I dont love so much:

  1. First of all, the food is just not up to snuff. It does get better every year but still lags way behind competitors like Holland America and Celebrity.

  2. Animator's Palate (Magic)
  3. Cabanas! (Magic)
  4. Carioca's (Magic)
  5. Lumiere's
  6. Palo (Magic)

The Disney Magic is the “sister ship” to the Disney Wonder.  Like a floating resort, each ship houses staterooms one third larger than any other cruise ship and a variety of entertainment venues. There are four full service restaurants, one buffet, and several counter service restaurants on board both ships – all themed in Disney magic. Indeed, in order to make choosing which ship to sail upon easier, the restaurants and their menus are exactly the same with the exception of one: On the Magic, Lumiere’s offers a Beauty and Beast theme while on the Wonder, Triton’s creates an undersea Little Mermaid environment. Both ships have a stadium theatre with delightful Disney productions and a movie theatre showing first run features. Both ships offer state-of-the-Art fitness and spa facilities as well as the best in children’s’ facilities. Characters abound on both ships. In other words, with only a slight variation in colors and theming, one can choose either the Magic or the Wonder and count on a very similar ship experience.

The entrance to the ship from the port is on deck three into a beautifully designed three story lobby reminiscent of early cruise ships from the ‘30’s with curved staircases and ornate Disney sculptures. Also on this floor is the adult section of the ship – themed Beat Street on the Magic and Route 66 on the Wonder. Here, live music, both jazz and dance, as well as comedy improv talent extend cruise activities into the early morning hours. Tritons, on the Wonder, and Lumiere’s, on the Magic, are on the third floor, too. The fourth floor holds the stadium theatre for live performances and two more full service restaurants: Parrot Cay, with a Caribbean flare, and Animator’s Palette, a Disney dining “show” not to be missed. The fifth floor houses the children’s wing for fun and adventure: The Oceaneer’s Club for the younger set and the Oceaneer’s Lab for older group. The ninth floor has the buffet, a pizzeria, hot dog and burger stand, ice cream shop, and pools for both families and adults only. On specified evenings, one of the pools is covered to become a dance floor for a live music party with buffet and fireworks. Deck ten is the home for Palos, the adults only restaurant, a strolling deck, and the ESPN Sports Bar.

There is 24-hour room service on board, and special meal requests are accommodated (with supplies on board). There are excursions for all ports of call, though the ship activities continue for those who wish to remain on board. Concierge service, for stateroom levels 1, 2, and 3 includes a staff person to make all spa and excursion appointments as well as process all personal requests. As well, concierge level staterooms have additional snacks brought to the room each day. The ships hold over 3.000 people, and the staff to cruise ratio is approximately one staff member for every two guests, however, so service is excellent regardless of the concierge amenities or stateroom size.
