are not a  "Fine Dining"  cook:

Your family heads for the dinner table when they hear the smoke detector.

Your kids know what  "peas porridge in a pot nine days old"  tastes like.

When your toddler goes outside to make mud pies, the rest of the family grabs forks and follows.

Your kids' favorite drinks are Alka-Seltzer and Pepto Bismal.

Your family is perpetually jealous of the delicious-looking food in Fido's bowl.

Your kids got even with the neighborhood bully by inviting him for brunch.

Your kids got suspended from school for smuggling toxic waste into the cafeteria.

No matter what you do to it, the gravy still turns blue.

And the surest sign is:

You cause kitchen fires when making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Does it count when you catch the bag of tortilla chips on fire when pre-heating the oven? That would be the ENTIRE bag of tortilla chips. Cellophane and all.....[:-]

Otherwise, I'm good!

Well...except for that one time when the kitchen phone cord melted over the stove burner......

Thanks for the laughs Corey! I am also glad you bring your joy here!

OK, I have to share a few....

About the time we were babysitting my sister (about 9) and she wanted to make pudding. She proceeded to make pudding in plastic bowl on the stove. Unsupervised, even though I watched TV in the next room. Of course, this melted into a ghastly mix of hot white plastic and pudding followed by her cries of help. We got it cleaned up and all laughed a lot about it afterwards.

A similar time I melted a new pottery wheel I'd gotten as a gift. I cooked the bowl I made on top of the plastic wheel. I found melted plastic and ball bearings pooling on the bottom of the stove and dripping from the grille.

It is amazing that we all lived through these activities!

Thanks for the laughs!
Dan
