JerseyDeb -> New but Not New (8/10/2008 11:06:11 PM)

I've just registered on the OLP forums. Some of you know me from a long time ago and some know me from Mousical Magic.
I'm Deb aka Debster ada DebbiC aka JerseyDeb.

I've read the reviews here for quite a long time and since I'm planning a trip, I'd thought I'd register so I can participate somewhat.

I've got the deluxe dining package for an upcoming October trip and for the first time ever traveling, I'll be traveling with many dietary restrictions. I've always known that great advice for sugar free was found here and that is one of my concerns.

I'm hypoglycemic (opposite of diabetic) my blood sugar on a good day hits 55-60, mostly it stays in the 40's, and some days in the low to mid 30's, those days I'm mostly incredibly stupid.  Due to other digestive concerns, I cannot have artifical sweetners of any kind, so that complicates things. Right now I'm working with a nutritionalist to benefit from a high protein, low carb and low sugar diet.

Nice to meet you folks that I don't know, and a big "Hey" to those of you who know me.

Deb

Happy day, Deb[:D]  Welcome!
Taking insulin gives me some experience with low bloodsugar and how it feels to be "stupid"[:-]  I guess for you the goal is to keep keep your body's metabolism from secreting too much insulin by reducing carbs in general, het sustaining a steady release of complex carbs into your system so that the bloodsugar doesn't drop too low...?

Anyway I can offer support to help you figure this out, I'm here[:o]

By the way, I found a natural sweetner called NuStevia that is virtually calorie free and tastes good.  It is essentially the herb, Stevia, in a packet form with a teensy amount (like a couple of calories) of malto-dextrin (complex carb) to make mix well in drinks.  We get ours at Whole Foods[&o]
