Coreybear -> christmas shopping (7/6/2008 1:16:50 AM)

Gary and I and the kitties had a very quiet, relaxed 4th of July at home on the hill.

Today, the 5th of July, we drove up to Riviera Village in Redondo Beach to get started on our Christmas shopping, etc.    I found a delightfully nervous giraffe with the hiccups .... does anyone know a cure for giraffe hiccups?    At the moment Raffie the giraffe is lounging on the red silk divan on the roof of the house, star-gazing and hiccuping.    I am not sure who would like a giraffe for Christmas but I'll think of someone.   Maybe my Auntie Ava Jean in Houston?     We wandered into a fabulous bead and jewelry supply store and were overwhelmed by the thousands of beads they had, with jewelry-making tools, and jewelry fittings.   Gary bought an interesting array of beads for a necklace he is going to make.  I bought a couple of strands of beads for my friend Susan for her to use on her beautiful hand-made greeting cards she and her sister Linda design and produce.    She uses buttons and fabrics a lot, but I think she can use the beads as well.    I bought myself a silver Star of David ear ring that I want to wear to my therapy session next week.   We had a deliciously yummy lunch at the Zazou Italian Cafe on Catalina Avenue;   our waiter was so goofy gigglie.   We asked him why he was so gigglie wigglie, he said there was a goofy ingredient in the pumpkin ravioli he had for lunch just before we arrived.    Gary had salmon enchiladas with a creamy quacamole sauce on top.    I had roasted chicken toscano that had been marinated with lemon and garlic -- it was served with divine sauteed spinach and crunchy roasted potatoes.    On the way home we stopped at the King Harbor Fish Market so Gary could pick up the catch of the day for dinner sometime.   We tip-toed back to the house with our bundles of Christmas gifts, Raffie the giraffe, a bucket full of fish, and a pocket full of credit card receipts that we will reckon with when the the postman delivers our credit card bills .... I'll just have to close my eyes when I write the checks, so I won't know how many thousands of Do Re Mi that I recklessly charged up today.  Dontcha love plastic money??   We absolutely can not live without all that plastic stuffed into our wallets ....  c'est la vie en roses.
