But Jer is going to try out for a hockey travel team at a different rink- I spoke with the coach yesterday and I really liked his attitude. We chatted for a long time... I was very impressed. I kept saying, I don't know- Jer's not that great {I'm so unlike all the other parents who think their kids are the best, even if they're aren't... LOL but I did mention Jer has size- and he stopped me mid sentence and said- HE has size? I said, so I'm told by the Pro players around here- he said BRING HIM TOMORROW PLEASE! Size means everything. So I'm told [:-]}
The rink itself isn't so great compared to the NEW rink we play in now. But I was almost embarrassed by myself putting beauty before belief. Because at first I was like, hmmm, no thanks that rink is gross [:-] But I opened my mind and listened and loved!
There are only 2 spots open and a whole lotta kids wanting those spots- this is a make up try out because so many of 'us' at the new rink didn't know about the try outs.
Long story behind the whole travel teams- but the new rink has the statis behind their travel team but with so many politics that 'us down to earth, no kissing' parents are left in the cold- but this other rink was tired of that and started their own travel team. Doesn't hold the glory like the other team, but hey if it holds HONOR, respect, fair play, then I much rather have Jeremy play for that team.
Jeremy gets private lessons from a pro hockey player and he told me straight out- Mom you need to kiss the coaches 'butt' to get Jeremy where you want him. I looked at him, laughed and said, this Italian, NY mother doesn't kiss no one's butt! Sorry. He looked at Jer and said, then pal, you're left on skills alone- which sadly today doesn't get him far. NOT that he doesn't have the skills but a lot of kids with skills get left out if the parents aren't in the money, kissing game.
I looked at Jer and said, honey, Mom loves you but we won't play dirty- you play to have fun and that's where it'll end. I realize that's with any sport- really sad.
So we didn't try out for that rinks travel team and ALOT of kids that are very good did get left out- I don't want any part of that game, ya know? We all met last night and discussed about going to the other rink. These parents are like us- down to earth.
Anyhoooo, I heard about this other team - so we'll try- all I told Jeremy was to play his best and that's all that matters.

But to be honest, I am nail biting over this- not because I must have Jer on the team but I'm not sure what I'm getting into IF He does. It's a LOT of money and a lot of travel out of town. But deep breath and just pray what's meant to be - will be. [&o]
