Jodi -> Healing PD for Justin, please? (5/10/2008 8:14:50 AM)

Oh gosh, my poor baby!  Yesterday evening after work I had a going away gathering to go to for a co-worker (or now ex co-worker as the case may be!).  Jeff went with me and Brandon was watching Justin.  Well, just as we had finished dinner Jeff's phone rang.  It was Brandon.  He had boiled the water and made ramon noodles (one of Justy's fave things) for Justin for dinner.  Fine.  Well, no sooner did he set it down and Justin started to eat than it got knocked over.  I have no idea how it happened, just one of those weird freak accidents, I think.  But, in the end boiling soup landed on Justin's foot.  EEK!  Well, Brandon did exactly what he should have:  he put a cold, wet rag on Justin's foot, then got a bag of frozen noodles and had him hold it on there, called Jeff, and cleaned up the mess.  I was very proud of him for handling it so well.  So, Jeff and I immediatly left the restaurant and came home to see how bad it was.  When Jeff saw it and said I needed to get my purse again, I knew it must look icky!  It actually looked like he had a sheer stocking on his foot that was hanging loosely (that would be the top layer of skin that was hanging loosely).  So, off to the ER we went!  Strangely, Justin didn't cry or anything until we headed to the hospital!  Then he started freaking out on us!  At the hospital the ER doc said it was mostly 2nd degree burns, possibly a small amt of 3rd degree.  As he put it, Justin would prob have preferred 3rd degree b/c they don't hurt as much since they go below the nerves.  2nd are far and away the most painful.  He gave us some medicine, bandaged him up, gave us instructions on care, and sent us on our way.  Pretty much all we can do is keep it clean and wrapped and keep him on the meds for pain and hope no infection sets in.  He's a tough little fella, though!  He didn't cry at all at the hospital and was great when they wrapped it up!  He didn't much care for the tylenol with codein, though!  So, no soccer today.  No shoes today period.  Maybe his crocs will be wearable.  We'll see!  Anyway, any pd you could send his way for a quick recovery would be much appreciated!
