Jeanne Palmer, my 90-year-old  "Wonder Woman" friend (in Havaaya) told me the other day that she too has terrible headaches nearly as frequently as I do.   Recently someone recommended she try an herb called gelsemium, which is supposed to be good for relieving headache pain, as well as those annoying wrong-number phone calls just as you've jumped into the shower or sat down at the table for dinner.   After an unsuccesful search for it in pharmacies, health food stores, and GNC Nutrition, I found it listed as one ingredient in something called "Hyland's Headache" being sold from an on-line homeopathic pharmacy.   I decided to give it a try and ordered it yesterday.   I'm trusting no harm will be done by trying it to see if it helps, or not.   What's the worst that can happen ... I will have spent $16 for nothing?   I hope that's the worst case scenario.

Has anyone heard of gelsemium?   Does anyone know anything about it?    Will I be able to play the harpsichord while bungee-jumping off the top of the Seattle Space Needle after introducing this miracle herbal concoction into my system?    Oh my, what am I getting myself into now .... ?

I have not ever heard of that herb, Corey.  I did a quick search on Google, and did find information on it.  It is an extremely toxic herb, from what I have read.  So, you should use care when taking it.  Here are some web links for you.

Drugs.com

Henriettesherbal.com

Botanical.com

Elixirs.com - they sell gelsemium

I hope this helps you, Corey.  I have to say that unless you played the harpsichord previously, while jumping off the Seattle Space Needle, my best guess is that you won't be able to do it now.  If you decide to try it, please let me know.  I'd like to be there to watch.

Francine

Thanks Francine for checking out gelsemium for me.   I guess if it is going to kill more than a headache it's not exactly what I want or need.    My friend, Jeanne "Wonder Woman" Palmer, does not think gelsemium would be harmful as an ingredient in something like "Hyland's Headache" but now I'm extremely hesitant to try H.H. even if there is no danger.   I'm one big sissie when it comes to weird stuff like that.

As soon as I schedule my harpsichord-playing bungee-jump off the Seattle Space Needle I'll let you know.   Would you believe you have to book bungee jumps at least a full year in advance?   I had no idea it was such a popular thing in Seattle?   :-)
