Just following up Snowy's post!  I LOVE reading everyone's plans and I LOVE reading all the wonderful treats everyone will be sharing on that wonderful turkey day!  I've heard of folks doing different, less "traditional" things for Thanksgiving like homemade enchiladas, fish, etc.  I was curious if anyone here had a less than "traditional" thanksgiving meal planned.  Of course, we all know how much fun making your own traditions can be!  So, is there anything out there unique to your family meal??  Inquiring minds want to know!

As for me, my meal is the ultimate in traditional!  It will consist of:
Turkey (gobble gobble!)
Ham (straight from my good friend porky who we bought and processed late in the summer!)
Stuffing (made from my dad's recipe which I'll have to share the story of later on, it's funny!)
Green bean casserole
Smashed potatoes
Gravy (I'm the worst gravy maker in the world, so this is NOT homemade, it comes from a handy dandy jar!)
Corn (yup, from a bag!)
Sweet potatoes
Cranberry sauce (homemade from a recipe I got here at OLP years ago)
Black and green olives (Black for my boys and green for fil)
Bread (I'll make two or three loaves in the bread machine and warm it in the oven till meal time)
Pumpkin pies (is Thanksgiving possible w/out them???)
Sugar free apple pie (if my friend mike is here b/c he's diabetic)
Bread pudding w/vanilla bean ice cream (Jeff's favorite and I make a mean bread pudding!)
Wine (fresh from a local winery!)
Soda, milk, water, tea, or whatever anyone else wants to drink!

Oh, and I think Jeff is going to throw some  bacon wrapped shrimp on the grill this year, too.  So, that will be our not so traditional additon!

I think that's it for my table!!  I can't wait to hear everyone else's menu!!!

LOL dawn!

Well My MIL is making her usual ( sorry to say ) very dry turkey. Sigh....
She does two turkey's and wants ppl to take home leftovers which is very nice of her to think of us
But I always turn it down and make a small turkey here at home for our quote unquote leftovers.

And her homemade dressing ( which don't get me wrong I love my MIL to peices ) But Maybe because I was so use to My Mom's stuff Which is always more juicy and Flavorful or what. But that dressing she makes is so gross. Nobody eats it and she says every yr " wonder why nobody ate any stuffing? " How do we tell her? And not hurt her feelings.

I myself am bringing green beans from our garden , my Famous Pumpkin Cheesecake And Pickle Rollups ( w/ham and cream cheese Sounds icky but they are good ) My Nephews always ask "Auntie Amie Please can you bring those pickle things?" And I will need to make something special for Jonah that is Sugar free I did find some Sugar free Chocolate chips at Wal-mart so Maybe I will figure out something with those.

We will have Pancakes for breakfast ( which I just made and put in the freezer)

So thankfully not to much to worry about. I was thinking about making my homemade noodles but I am going to just take things 1 day at time if I have extra time I just might.

You're comments on mil's stuffing reminded me of Jeff's grandma's orange slice cake.  It was the most awful, horrendous thing EVER!  I'm like the most unpicky person in the world and I couldn't hack it!  The thing weighed like 10 lbs!  UGH!!  And every year she made it and every year everyone else got out of eating it and there I would be, stuck at the table with my "lovely" piece of the awful cake!  And I did my best to sound like I was enjoying every last bite!  When she became to heavy to  get around easily, she tried to get mil or I to make it, but, well, let's just say that the infamous cake has NEVER made an appearance since!  Though mil does occasionally threaten to make one especially for me!

PS  Your pumpkin cheesecake and pickle things sound heavenly!!

My father would have a fit if I didn't make my famous apple pie.  He claims it's the best he has every had.  Now that's what I call a compliment.
