Status: offline 		Our Kaya that she got for her B-day.  I had to do alot to that doll to get her to look that nice. And my Savannah is so very happy with her. 

SHe has been beggin for Nellie because Samanthat needs Nellie and they are not going to sell her anymore mom! But what she doesn't know is I already got her Mia for christmas & Daddy would shoot me if I got Nellie too. I have not been able to find a well loved Nellie yet to repair or a Kit for a resonable price anyways. This Kaya I paid $10 for but spent many hours on that hair and cleaning her and tighting her up. She was a mess when she came to me but now she looks almost new.

Status: offline 		Oh my goodness, she is absolutly beautiful!!  What a great buy.  How many hours would you say you put into making her the beauty is she today?  I don't know if I would have the patients to restore a doll.  In fact, I have a Felicity I'm giving my daughter for Christmas at Dr. Robin's house now.  She is getting her hair done and her limbs tightened.  My guess is that she was originally purchased around 1993 or 1994.  She has the gorgeous red hair.

Status: offline 		Well Dawn I completely re-did her Would've been easier to get a new wig though but could not find one I liked that compared to her original length. So I spent about 5 nights on her First I finished taking her apart ( she came in a few pieces poor thing) Then threw her body in the washer ( with out the stuffing ) threw out the stuffing Scrubbed all her limbs and face And soaked her head in downey over night Then next I put her all back together with brand new stuffing and new limb attachments and ended up having to put in new strings as well hers broke when I tried to put her head back on.  Then spent a few nights with the STP stuff and soaking it again on her hair. it still was not the best but I was really tired of combing that dolls hair and she was starting to loose some so I just put the braids in Then I re-did her face make-up ( like her lips ) and put her washed clothes on her and wrapped her up. Lots of work but my princess was VERY happy to finally have a Kaya. I have another one I just need to reassemble but I put a new wig on her that has the curly ringlets so she looks like Savannah. hehe

Hey Dawn Next Time ask me to fix your Doll I will only charge for shipping and any parts she might need.  She won't get a robe but she would look nice.

Now that's some wonderful repair work!
Savannah looks so excited to have Kaya join her growing doll family.
One thing about these dolls is they can be rehabed!
Sometimes it takes some (a lot) of work, but the quality of them makes it possible.
Rudy has gotten very good at tightening limbs!

You did an incredible job with Kaya! I'll bet Savannah loves Kaya all the more for all the love and care her mommy put into that dolly.

You did a beautiful job with her! I've always thought that Kaya looks like Savannah. I think someday down the road I'll have to add Kaya to my collection but right now I have my sights set on Kit (but only after Dan finds a new job).

Beth is right, though. They are so well-made to begin with that, if you find one that needs some love, they CAN be restored to their former glory!

I'm having so much fun with my American Girls!

I'm taking them down off their shelf tonight!

Thanks for reminding me what a neglectful mommy I've been.

That's OK Amie, I sent her to Dr. Robin in an AG Hospital gown because there is no way I was going to send her neeked!
