I just got a call from Greg.  He got laid off at work.  Tomorrow is his last day...the same day that Kyle leaves for New Zealand.   My stomach is in knots and the tears won't stop flowing.  Please send your really really potent stuff.  I am trying to do thankful thursday over and over in my head.

Kimmy and Greg  I am sending a steady stream.  One door closes and another opens.  I will keep you in my thoughts and wishes and prayers until we know what the opening door is

  Kimmy and Greg

I gotta agree totally with Ahnalira about  "one door closing and another opening".   That's the best and strongest way to look at this situation.   The timing is crappy, with Kyle running off to New Zealand, but no time is convenient to be laid off.    All of us at OLP are sending super-powerful pixie dust accompanied with positive  "new job door opening"  vibes.   One thing for sure about Thankful Thursday is that you and Greg are not in this alone.  You got a bunch of charged-up Disneykin friends over here that are using the best possible pixie dust strategy for an absolutely fabulous  WINNING Score for y'all.

Aw Kimmy honey! It is SO hard to remain thankful when these things keep coming at you. You and your family are always in my thoughts and prayers. Hey! I have an idea! Why don't you and Greg pack it up and come camp out with us! We can catch fireflies in jars, weather the storms together and you'll be a drive away from Sami! I know that's not realistic...but a lovely dream. And, that's what can never be taken away from us! Keep your dreams high and your heart strong! Love you guys!

And there's more where that came from. I have to believe there is a job out there with his name on it just waiting. I wish you all the best in his search.

Kimmy I have you and Greg in my prayers daily.  I agree with Ahnalira and Corey that when one door closes another one opens.  I also like Tammy's idea of you camping out with them and being closer to Sami.  I'm sending you a massive dose of PD to help your family through this and that Greg finds the job he was meant to have very soon.

I can't tell you how much all your thoughtful words mean to me.  Kyle just left about a half hour ago and after a good cry,  I found myself wandering around the house and then decided to come on here.  Your wonderful words of support and encouragement were just what I needed.  Thank you all soooo much!  It means the world to me to have you all here.

Tammy,  we just might take you up on that if we don't get any "bites" out here.  :)

Thank you all again soooo much!  I know that this just means that there are some changes that were meant to happen...thank you all for reminding me of that.

Kimmy

Girlfriend, we're right there with you! The only reason I'm not in total panic mode is that we decided to cash in our Whole Life insurance policies and pay off all of our credit cards in anticipation of leaner times ahead. Of course, now we have to work until the day we die because that was going to be retirement money but we'll worry about that when the economy takes its inevitable turn upward. I keep telling myself these things are cyclical and we're due for an upturn. This too shall pass.

I'm assuming he can collect unemployment, right? Get that in motion ASAP. It's not much but it's something. Did he get any type of severance package?

Just know that you are not alone in this. Even though it looks dark right now, one way or another, it's going to be OK. (And please remind me I said this to you when I'm having a dark day, OK?)

I'm sending oodles and oodles of Pixie Dust with apologies for it being a little late.

Lisabell

Oh Kimmy.  That's so tough.   But I know things will be ok and soon this will be all bad memories of the past.  My prayers will be with you that things will work out in the best possible way.

Thanks Amie,  Lisa and Jodi!

Yes,  Lisa,  he was signing up for unemployment his last day of work (friday)...and also,  he did get a two month severence package and a 6 month healthcare package.  So...we are at least covered for health care for 6 months which...if he can find a job soon,  we will be covered until that health care package kicks in...which is usually a 60 day waiting period..sometimes 90.

Thanks again everyone for the best wishes.  It really means alot to me and I have passed on the good wishes to Greg from everyone.  Tammy,  he got a chuckle out of the firefly comment you made.  :)

Honest to Betsy Kimmy, before Greg asked me about the fireflies, I was so used to seeing them, (yet nevertheless amazed by them!) that I didn't think anybody else appreciated the little buggers and their happy magic! Now, everytime I see the fireflies come out, I think of you and Greg and your short visit here. It was like old friends getting together rather than new! Kimmy and Greg
