Lunch at House of Blues reviewed by Alan and Ahnalira, West Side of Downtown Disney, Walt Disney World
Soaring over the roofs of Downtown Disney's Westside is the House of Blues trademark sign.
The theming of this "creole" eating experience is FANTASTIC! Even if you don't plan to eat, it's worth a stop for the ambiance, imho; >)
You can eat outside in the garden overlooking the Sassagoula River...
or inside in the midst of the "magic"
We had a cozy booth.
Bread doesn't come as a complimentary "accessory" here so we ordered a skillet of cornbread... VERY yummy!
We got one appetizer: Shrimp in a creole sauce
and two entrees:
The "Elwood" sandwich
Mushroom Pasta (with Chicken) I ordered paremesan cheese to replace the smoked gouda, and it was superb.
Our meal, moderate by Disney standards, came to about #35.00
On Sundays, the House of Blues has a Gospel Brunch that is fun, fun, fun! AND every night of the week (almost) there are live concerts:)
5 years later I'm back and still a big fan of the Elwood. This is a perfectly seasoned, tender chicken breast sandwich with chopped chiles and chili mayo, rustic artisan bread which tastes freshly baked. This time I opted for the Sweet Potato fries (which cost $1.99 extra) and they were delicious -- Ahnalira called them a dessert because they were sweet and creamy. Ambience is fun, especially if you are a fan of the Blues Brothers movies or old blues bars in the South. I would give my Elwood about a 4.8. Ahnalira had a Salmon with squash and rice which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Overall, I'm giving HOB a 4.5 -- and my personal award for best chicken sandwich anywhere! So it scrapes into the 5 category. Price is pretty moderate as Disney goes, our meal was in the $30 neighborhood for two lunches and two regular drinks.

I went here on my first vacation to Disney. The fries where awesome. They were seasoned to perfection. I had a burger to eat, it was delicous. It was juicy, the cheese was melted greatly, the buns were the best part about the burger, it was lightly toasted on the under side of the bun, it was soft, though, on the outside. It was fantastic.
