OLP Review : videos : Pictures : Menu(s) : Other Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park Restaurants

Cuisine: American
Price Scale: $$
Meals Served: L, D

Located just outside the Animal Kingdom park, the Rainforest Café is the park’s only full service restaurant. Surrounded by gorillas, elephants, tropical foliage, and a very large tropical fish tank, one can partake of breakfast, lunch and dinner in this wildlife habitat. The ceiling is a star-studded night sky. Rainbows bedeck the walls, and a thunderstorm occurs like clockwork every half hour or so. The restaurant is filled with other exotic rainforest sounds as well so be prepared to talk loud. The menu is inventive and large, representing many different cultures. Fresh smoothies are a menu “centerpiece”. An average meal at the Rainforest Café is between $25 - $35 per person ($$$). Priority seating is strongly suggested.

Rainforest Cafe Review

Alan and Ahnalira review dinner at the Rainforest Cafe located in Disney's Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

OLP Review:
At Disney World, there are two Rainforest Cafe locations to choose between; one Downtown Disney and the other at the entrance of the Animal Kingdom.  We chose the Animal Kingdom location where the Rainforest Cafe is the only full service restaurant.

One can dine here at the bar as well as in the restaurant.

To enter the restaurant area, we passed under and "through" this very cool aquarium..

to our "rainforest bedecked" table

Everything at the Rainforest Cafe is about theming...  All around is the jungle with jungle sounds and the periodic flash flood storm.

Alan chose the Chimi Cha Cha Cha...  a deep fried tortilla filled with chicken and beans.  The guacomole, he commented, was very fresh.

Ahnalira explored the Rasta Pasta...  an alfredo/pesto sauce over pasta with chicken and vegetables.

The meal was just under $25.00 with tip.  OLP gives the Rainforest Cafe two thumbs up for theming and rates the food in the "good" category.  After eating, remember to leave room for shopping

And again, fun place to visit.5/31/2010 by Ser Alan
We just came back around for another visit, dinner at the Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom.  As always, the ambience is great fun ... animatronic elephants, huge aquariums, the occasional thunderstorm.  The food isn't quite as exciting, as I noted in my previous review from 5 years ago!

I had the pastalaya which was good but not exceptional in any way.  Basically a jambalaya with pasta, it was a little spicey but really needed additional heat -- which I obtained in a tabasco bottle.  Ahnalira really had the star attraction, a special macaroni and cheese with Lobster (I don't think this is part of the regular menu) which was quite tasty.

Still, overall, I have to give it a 3 -- as in adequate fare but nothing exceptional that I would seek out again.  Definitely a must see at least once for the ambience.   I think kids will especially love this place.Read reviews by this author

5 for ambience, 3 for food! A must see!!11/3/2005 by Ser Alan

Weve been to the various Rainforest Cafes many times; I do love the unique ambience! Especially the occasional thunderstorms! None of this has changed much over the years.

The food on the other hand, has changed quite a bit and for the worse IMHO.  On my last visit I had the meatless "natural burger" which was just ok, the wife had the "Caribe Chicken" which was delicious: probably the best thing Ive had on the new menu

In conclusion; you have got to do this if you have never been to a Rainforest Cafe before! However, dont expect too much from the food :)

Weve eaten at both locations on a number of occasions and are usually very satisfied with the food itself. However, heres a bit of advice, its usually FREEZING inside so dress warmly and also try not to go when youre starving because evne if theres not a wait the food usually takes a LONG time to get to the table.Read reviews by this author

We like the Rainforest Cafe. We dont eat at the ones in Disney as we have one at the mall near us. We actually have 2 within a 20 mile area from our home. The food is in the good category but the atmosphere is great and the kids love it. My favorite is the China Island Chicken Salad.Read reviews by this author
