Do you like water sports? If so, the Contemporary Resort is the Disney “home” for you! In addition to all of the ‘regular’ recreation opportunities, like tennis (possibly the finest racquet ball club onsite) and water sprites and a health club, the Contemporary Resort houses the company that provides water skiing and parasailing. Other assets of the Contemporary Resort include:
- Monorail transportation to the Magic Kingdom and a boatride to the Ft Wilderness area (home of River Country, Hoopdedoo Revue, and horse back riding)
- A 10-minute walk to the Magic Kingdom
- Two of Walt Disney World’s most celebrated restaurants, the California Grille and Chef Mickey’s character buffet
The Contemporary Resort has the distinction of being the 1st resort built at Walt Disney World, and the rooms are the largest on site. Some rooms, those facing the Magic Kingdom, have a spectacular view of the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks. The theming of this deluxe flavored resort is straight from the Jetson’s cartoons…colorful, sleek, and space age from a 50’s perspective. Rates at the Contemporary Resort are often slightly less than at the other deluxe resorts while offering all of the same amenities.

Started going to this resort as a kid--it was one of the very first built. There is no other resort anywhere else in the world like this one, imho. I've been in rooms that have shown wear, and I still loved them. One of the things I like about Disney is that you can count on a worn room being refurbished sooner than later.
We loved this resort, it was amazing! The monorail was so fun. We loved being able to walk to Magic Kingdom. We loved Chef Mickey's. The Mickey waffles and the characters and the fantastic service were amazing!
We did two full days at Magic Kingdom during our seven-day trip, and the convenience was amazing!
Also, our beds were comfy, the staff was awesome, and our room had views of Magic Kingdom, amazing. My daughters are 12, 9, and 2, and this resort was super family-friendly! Loved it! I highly recommend this resort!
It's all about location for us; can't get any better than the contemporary. From the walking path to the MK to the monorail, it is hands down the best place to stay to get around the world with ease. Rooms are large, modern and comfortable. Pool is great too.
Location, location, location. You can go anywhere in the world from this resort with little efortt
I love this place.
The renovation of the Contemporary Resort from the "Jetson's" futuristic look to the more elegant fusion of woods and metals and earthtone colors really works for me!
Walking into the lobby now makes me feel like I'm entering a very sleek and modern facility, and I love the way Disney made the Contemporary "contemporary" with the new Wave dining option, too
We now have a new favorite resort – we have stayed in most of the deluxe resorts and are rating the Contemporary #1 coming a close 2nd is the Animal Kingdom Lodge. If you stay at the Contemporary make sure you book a “theme park view”. We slept with the curtains open so we could wake up in the middle of the night to see the lighted Castle. What a view – I cannot say this enough. The room was spectacular – very modern and well appointed. The cast members were all very friendly, the only problem we had was at check-in when our room was not ready – there was about a ½ hour wait – however the room and view were worth the wait!
We ate dinner at the California Grill – great meal, great view. Breakfast was at Chef Mickey&r
Ahhh, my beloved Contemporary Resort...........I could go on and on about it! There are so many things about the Contemporary that strikes a cord within me. First of all, you really can't get much more DISNEY than The Contemporary Resort. It, along with the Polynesian, being the first hotels on property, makes it a Disney Classic, truly to be cherished. The unique design and of the Contemporary makes it almost as recognizable as the Eiffel Tower (among the Disney community, especially). The recently renovated rooms are gorgeous; Very modern with earth tones, crisp white bedding and silver accents. Since the renovation, I'd have to say that this has also become the most 'chic' of the Deluxe Resorts. A large, fully stocked marina, largest game room at any resort (you can even collect tickets to earn prizes), close-up views of the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella's Castle, relaxing views of Ba
