“Come celebrate Africa!” is the motto of the Jambo House at Animal Kingdom Lodge and, indeed, from moment one enters the driveway up to the resort the “feel” of an African landscape prevails in touches like lighting made to look like small fire pits and an ambience of an African plain. In pure Disney style, the resort takes elements of African life and weaves them together in a colorful montage that is both lyrical and metaphorical in its ambiance. From the “thatched” round roofs to the herds of wild animals cavorting across the balcony edges, the Jambo House at Animal Kingdom Lodge sweeps the imagination into another culture of the World. Bus transportation is available to all parks. To make each visit even more delightful, consider taking advantage of these resort amenities:
-
Three savannahs with viewing decks to observe African wildlife in its natural habitat.
-
African storytelling around the outdoor fire pit every evening
-
Three restaurants: Jiko serving fine African cuisine every evening for dinner, Boma offering a buffet array of African, Middle Eastern, and far Eastern delights as well American favorites for both breakfast and dinner, and Mara completing the dining options with a counter service menu that is both traditional and exotic :)
-
Hakuna Matata playground for children of all ages; >) as well as Simba’s Clubhouse, offering children’s activities for ages 4 –12
-
Zahanati Fitness center offering state of the art equipment and spa selections from massage to facials
-
Uzima Pool (Uzima means “clear water”) with slide and wading pool for the small ones
-
For concierge guests, a weekly Sunrise Safari is available for a fee, exploring the Kilamanjaroo Safari before opening and followed by a breakfast buffet at Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom.
Jambo House rooms come in a variety of choices with views including standard, water, and savannah. For a slightly higher price, a deluxe room (approximately 20sq ft larger than the regular size room) is available as well. Some rooms are configured with a queen bed and bunk beds, though most are set up with two queen beds. One king size bed is available as well. All rooms include a small safe in the closet to store valuables, a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, valet parking, voice mail, a crib, room service and a morning paper (The Orlando Sentinel) at your door. Concierge rooms and suites are available as well.

 — Wow pretty much sums it upI was giving the opportunity to tour this amazing resort November of 2014. I have to say, it's quite possibly one of the most amazing resorts I've ever visited. The architecture is amazing, the detailing is top notch, and the animal viewing is spectacular. Plus the rooms are spacious and well appointed. And if you want some unique dining options, this is for sure a destination you want to visit. Do yourself a favor and check out this amazing Disney resort. — Loved
My husband and I went down for an anniversary trip. We received a free upgrade to Savannah view. It was awesome!!!! To sit and watch the animals was beyond my words. I will say the walk to the room from the lobby was LONG, but that is my only down side. I know it's mentioned that you smell the animals... we did not. The decor in the rooms was so awesome. We really enjoyed it here.
 — New Favorite
Stayed here last week and LOVED it! I'd always avoided this resort before because it only has bus service--no boats or monorail. Never again. I love the exotic feel and all the animals, and the bus came plenty fast.
 — Favourite disney hotelI have stayed at a few Disney hotels, including those on the monorail so understand how convenient that is, however would now not stay at any other disney properly If staying in site. From the lobby decor to the staff - fantastic atmosphere as great service. Our family love the rooms and the savannah view great. Restaurants all good. We liked being a bit further away from the hussle and bussle, and found the bus service excellent when used - however mostly we took the car. Going again this summer and staying club level — LOVED ITOur family stated here in August 2010! We had a great time. We stayed club level and did the sunrise saffari both worth it.Our room had a great view of all the animals and the pool was really nice too. And the hot tub was awsome after a long day in the parks!!!!! Really great and it didn't even smell like there were animals around - great plus!!! — Our honeymoonMy new hubby and I just returned from a wonderful honeymoon at AKL. We stayed in the club level and really enjoyed our view of the savannah. We ate at all of the restaurants and enjoyed them. I would recommend that everyone try Sanaa before it becomes a signature dining experience. The food was SO good and the view of the animals while you ate was wonderful. We also did the sunrise safari (the reason we did club level) and had a unforgettable time. I have tried many of the deluxe resorts at Disney. AKL was the best one (if only you could have the convenient monorail and boat services of others, though). — I went here when I was littleI love this hotel; it is awesome for kids. — Awesome5 nights in march 2010. Great resort. Great views of animals everywhere. Pool and exercise facility very nice. Staff very friendly. Only thing missing for me is a jogging trail. Recommend highly! — Visiting Africa in Florida!!!!When you arrive at AKL you know all that time saving your money was worth it! It will take your breathe away when you enter past the front doors. The views are breathtaking. There is a bit of a walk to your room if you are to be staying on the first level of rooms. But it is worth it when you open your door to your home for the week and it overlooks the "african savannah". Even the sheer curtains that hang behind the room darkening curtains have animals on them. Just stand back and you will be able to make out the silouhettes of the animals. Our 2 yr. old little boy was just amazed at the animals on our side of the savannah. We had giraffes, gazelles, akopie cattle, and crowned cranes - just two name a few. Everyday while we were in the parks he wanted to go back to the room and check on the animals as well as in the morning when we first woke up. The pool is heated year round so while that sounds very nice we still found the water to be a b — Great Hotel to stay at for X-masMy family and I. was at the animal kingdom lodge in Dec. for a week and its our favorite hotel. we have stayed at 2 other Disney resorts, and this one takes the cake. The other 2 were nice, but the rooms and restaurants and services here were outstanding. We are going back again in Dec. 2009 for our 4th trip to Disney. You cant go wrong with this hotel. — AKL a child's dreamWe have only stayed here once. It was our princesses' idea. She wanted to stay "where the animals are." Gotta love that marketing! So we booked a room here against my better judgement. I love OKW and didn't want to move, so we compromised and did two nights at AKL, the rest at OKW.
Was I ever surprised. AKL is one of the most exciting, elegant, and comfortable resorts I have been to and I have been to a lot. The architecture is unbelievable. The vaulted ceilings and African design are so beautiful, you feel like you are on some private safari in Kenya. I couldn't believe the lobby. It was ginourmous, yet cozy, with little seating areas placed all around cocktail tables and fireplaces. Our room was great and we got upgraded to a pool view. Fabulous. The zero entry pool was a gift for a mom of a toddler. All the lit — Fitness Center Works for Me!The ambience at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is very soothing for me. I enjoy coming out of the bright sun into the darker, cooler interior... just like it would be in Africa, Im guessing And communing with the animals on the savannah is a special treat. But what really floats my boat is the fitness center.. LOVE the elliptical trainers and weight machines and the eucalyptus steam room is a slice of heaven, imho I like to do a morning at the Animal Kingdom and then spend the afternoon enjoying the amenities of the resort. — Love the animals! This is one of my favorite WDW
resorts! If you get a room with a Savannah view you can watch the
animals all through the day; even at night. We have stayed here several
times now, and I just love it. The only down side is that the
rooms tend to be a bit on the dark side, I guess its that authentic
African looking furniture that is so dark.
Also the concierge here is very nice, you get a great view of the
spectacular lobby and they even have a real nice latte machine.
