Located in the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge Resort, the Whispering Canyon Cafe is a full-service restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The motif is decidedly "Western", and the staff "hoots and hollers" it up with guests throughout their meal...  which must make a favorite for the kids, I'm sure; >)

The waiting area is geared towards children as well with a Lincoln Logs toy set up for playtime

Seating is comfortable and carries through the motif with Disney flair

There are "all you can eat" options at breakfast, lunch, and dinner served family-style, but we opted for the ala-carte menu.

The Buffalo Chicken Salad was very tasty; a delightful combination of flavors, imho,

and Alan said the burger met his high standard; >)

Unfortunately, the wait for our meal was long beyond reason (20 minutes for the wait staff to show up and 45 minutes for the meal to follow).  During that time, the "hootin' and hollering" did begin to wear thin.  This is a very convenient restaurant for a break from the Magic Kingdom - or if you are staying at the Wilderness Lodge - and the prices were moderate for a Disney resort restaurant.  We're hoping that the service issue can chalked up to an 'off' day and that, next time we partake, all we'll notice is the tasty food.  In the meantime, OLP gives Whispering Canyon Cafe one "hootin' and hollering" thumbs up.

so much fun!
12/9/2012 by Connie

This is one of our favorite places to eat at Disney.  So much fun!   The food is actually pretty decent and we had good service.  I had been there in the past with our entire family and we had a blast. I was worried that it wouldn't be as much fun with just my husband and I.  But-- we were included in the fun along with all of the families.   I'd pay money to see my husband doing the hokey pokey in front of the entire restaurant again LOL

Hootin' hollerin' time!

Wow!  That's all I have to say about Whispering Canyon restaurant in Wilderness Lodge!  It was So fun!  This restaurant doesn't have any characters in terms of Mickey and friends but the do, indeed, have characters.  The wait staff are a hoot!  They are loud and obnoxious, in a good way!  If you ask for ketchup, you will be bombarded with bottles.  A straw?  Try 100 or so.

The food was excellent!  I have the all you can eat skillet.  It included smoked ribs, pulled pork, roasted chicken, beef brisket, mashed tators, bean, corn on cob, salad with awesom apple vinaigrete, coleslaw and cornbread.  YUMMY!!!!

I highly recommend this for a family.  It's a ton of fun!

All in good fun!

We came here for dinner (on the dining plan) our 1st night of vacation and while staying at the Wilderness Lodge.  Overall we enjoyed it, the kids were not at all shy about participating in the antics of stick pony rides and helping deliver ketchup to others tables.  Our waiter was a little harried but pleasant, played the part (Dusty Trails), was efficient and got the job done.  He sold us on the bottomless shakes as being part of the dining plan and encouraged us to take at least the fruit plate to go for one of our desserts as it would work well for breakfast, and it did.  My daughter got the kid's fish which was a nice piece of salmon with rice, green beans, and yogurt with fresh strawberries.  She was happy with the yogurt and fruit, cornbread and her milkshake, didn't bother with anything else.  My husband was going to order the pot roast and was advised the steak was much better by Dusty Trails-he was not disappointed

A great place to eat Christmas morning, if you live in the area. This is our fourth year. The staff is loads of fun and the food is great. As an extra perk, you can sit by the fire, in the lodge and enjoy the magnificient lights of the huge tree in the middle of the lodge.

Can you say Loud and Obnoxious?

We had quite a mixed experience on our recent visit to Whispering Canyon for lunch.  To start with, "Whispering" is like some kind of sick joke because mostly the ambience here is loud and obnoxious...  be prepared for a lot of noise and yelling by the people working here; the kids were quiet by comparison!  We were unlucky enough to get the slowest server in the world, I honestly think she went backstage and took a 45 minute nap because after an hour of sitting we had yet to receive our food or even a refill on our drinks.

Having gotten that unpleasantness out of the way, the food was really good... possibly the best tasting burger I've had on property and Ahnalira really liked her salad too.  Once the waitress came out of her coma she was actually quite competent, even if she was still loud and obnoxious.  So, 5 stars for the food and 1 star for service and ambience puts it right at 3!
