If you are looking for a resort with the best “all round” transportation, the Polynesian Resort belongs on your list to consider. With both monorail and boat access to the Magic Kingdom, this resort is also walking distance to the TTC, Disney World’s transportation hub. As well, while many of the deluxe resorts gear themselves to convention business, the Polynesian Resort focuses on a relaxed, family vacation ‘in the South Seas’ ambiance. Other assets of this resort include:
  1. Minnie Menehune Character Breakfast and the evening ‘Ohana’s “all you can eat” Polynesian dinner.
  2. The Polynesian Luau Dinner show with two seatings nightly
  3. Beautiful grounds with lit torches in the evening and melodic Polynesian music piped throughout the gardens
  4. A short 10-minute stroll to the Grand Floridian Health Club
  5. Two pools, one themed and one ‘quiet’
  6. A beautiful atrium lobby

As one of the first resorts built at Disney World, this recently refurbished deluxe resort has some of the largest rooms. Rooms are grouped in buildings called Long Houses with a pleasant walkway from each Long House to the main lobby and restaurants. The theming is authentic and relaxing to the spirit; the bathrooms have a unique design from the other deluxe resorts in that the sinks are included in the bath area. The deep green marble tile in the bathrooms is exquisite. Some rooms have balconies; some do not. The rooms with a view of the Magic Kingdom are directly opposite the castle. Five people can sleep in a room if the fifth person is little. The Polynesian Resort hosts the Neverland Club for children when parents wish an adult evening.

Wonderful! on 12/28/2016 by Jodi Pew

I was so excited to eat here earlier this month (December 2016). And I absolutely was NOT disappointed! It was soooooo delicious. The service was impeccable and the restaurant is amazing. I can't say enough about it. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Not Sure I Like the Redo on 6/10/2015 by Toni

The "old" Polynesian resort was my absolute favorite!  Best beach with a view of the Magic Kingdom.  BEST pool EVER!  Great restaurants and shopping.  All still there...but it just isn't the same for me since they took the gorgeous plant display out of the lobby.

Maybe I will get used to it... or just spend all my time at the pool.

ADORE this resort! on 4/5/2014 by Ahnalira

The lobby is lush with waterfalls and greenery and stone (aka slate floors)  I ADORE the lobby of this resort!  The rooms are spacious...maybe the largest on Disney property and have a very elegant feel.  The torch ligting ceremony every evening is major fun, and the view of the castle from the beach... well, what can be better than that?!  Like I said, I ADORE this resort!

LOVE THE POLY! on 12/28/2011 by Jodi

We stayed at the Polynesian for the first time a few weeks ago!  I tried very hard not to set my expectations too high because I knew this was an older resort.  However, I was NOT disappointed in any way!  It really was perfect for us.  From the moment we stepped off the bus, we had the best service I could ask for!  A friendly 'Aloha' was said everywhere we went.  Checking in at the concierge building (Hawaii) was so much fun!  The staff laughed and joked and really made us feel welcome.

We requested ground floor and were happy when we discovered our request was granted.  The room was quite large and roomy.  The beds were super comfy, too.  Our room was always clean when we returned from a day at the parks, though we never received another towel critter after our first day.sad

Exotic on 11/19/2011 by Sndy Sag

Didn't stay here, but will next time....we waited in the gorgeous lobby until time for the Aloha Show.. A Polynesian comes in the entrance, blows a conch shell to signal time to light the tiki torches, then does his routine with burning batons.twirling them, and he also does this in the show... stop in the lobby to see the waterfall with lovely flowers.

Our favorite! on 9/29/2011 by John D

I have been coming to Disney my entire life thanks to my grandparents living in Jacksonville. I was always intrigued by the tropical resort next to the ferry boat dock, but had never stayed there until 2009 for my wedding anniversary. We stayed for only two nights in a Magic Kingdom view room, and "fantastic" does not begin to describe this place. Not only is the resort laid out so that you are always close to what you want, but the foliage is so lush that even the walk to get coffee is a treat. One bus stop, monorail, and boat services make this a perfect hub to get around the WDW, too. And the restaurants are so good that we always eat here even if we aren't staying! There is even a tiki bar that can make traditional tropical drinks. This is hands down the most relaxing place to stay at Disney, and our absolute favorite resort.

CEO of my house on 8/17/2010 by Dani in Texas

So, we are driving back to Texas after 4 nights. After taking the monorail to visit the Grand Floridian and Contemporary, my family of 5 is so glad we picked the Polynesian! All staff, from front desk, clerks, to even the Chefs - everyone was friendly and happy to be there. The volcano pool was fabulous for the kids! The food was not 5 star quality, but generally worth the money. Ohanas was not the best place to take young kids for the cost, but the food was great. Jonas and captain Cooks are the way to go. The rooms were a little dark and not completely updated, however - still very clean and comfortable. We were disappointed that there was no local TV and extremely limited cable shows in the late evening for kids at the end of the day. Even me and my hunny like to rent the newest movies, but we were not able to. And finally, having the MK view of Cinderellas castle, nightly fireworks and lagoon light parade was WELL worth the money!!!! Also, having the monorail available so

Poly great for family on 4/11/2010 by Jake

I love this resort!  It's the best out of the 3 on the 7 seas lagoon. It's got a luau at night - beware of cold nights , it may get cancelled. Other than this, it's great.

Refurb is a big improvement! on 4/15/2006 by Ser Alan

We recently visited the Polynesian after their latest refurbishment and I was impressed. They have really upgraded the furniture in the rooms, the closet space is simply delightful now!  Add to that high speed internet service and a great view of the fireworks from your room and youve got a winner!  The concierge area has also been remodelled, I rather like the new layout although I miss the Poly that we first got to know 10 years ago.  I didnt see any fruit sculptures like the old days but we did see a familiar face or two.  Overall Im giving the Poly a 4 because you really cant beat the location and the view.

In addition they have just completed a major remodel of the main building, making a very nice large shopping area right near the entrance (it used to be hidden in the back).  Ahnalira was especially pleased by the selection of Tommy Bahamas womens clothing there although I have to say the mens select
