Member Reviews: Submit a Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge member review! Our honeymoon on 8/29/2010 by Karmatuki My new hubby and I just returned from a wonderful honeymoon at AKL. We stayed in the club level and really enjoyed our view of the savannah. We ate at all of the restaurants and enjoyed them. I would recommend that everyone try Sanaa before it becomes a signature dining experience. The food was SO good and the view of the animals while you ate was wonderful. We also did the sunrise safari (the reason we did club level) and had a unforgettable time. I have tried many of the deluxe resorts at Disney. AKL was the best one (if only you could have the convenient monorail and boat services of others, though). Read reviews by Karmatuki

Visiting Africa in Florida!!!! on 5/8/2009 by Jill Greer When you arrive at AKL you know all that time saving your money was worth it! It will take your breathe away when you enter past the front doors. The views are breathtaking. There is a bit of a walk to your room if you are to be staying on the first level of rooms. But it is worth it when you open your door to your home for the week and it overlooks the "african savannah". Even the sheer curtains that hang behind the room darkening curtains have animals on them. Just stand back and you will be able to make out the silouhettes of the animals. Our 2 yr. old little boy was just amazed at the animals on our side of the savannah. We had giraffes, gazelles, akopie cattle, and crowned cranes - just two name a few. Everyday while we were in the parks he wanted to go back to the room and check on the animals as well as in the morning when we first woke up. The pool is heated year round so while that sounds very nice we still found the water to be a bit chilly in February. Although there were people swimming in it all week. The hot tubs were great though after being on your feet all day in the parks. Also, for anyone that loves massages, give the zahanati fitness center a call. We will definitely call AKL our "home" again... Read reviews by Jill Greer
Great Hotel to stay at for X-mas on 1/4/2009 by John My family and I. was at the animal kingdom lodge in Dec. for a week and its our favorite hotel. we have stayed at 2 other Disney resorts, and this one takes the cake. The other 2 were nice, but the rooms and restaurants and services here were outstanding. We are going back again in Dec. 2009 for our 4th trip to Disney. You cant go wrong with this hotel. AKL a child's dream on 7/25/2006 by Mcmillanmom We have only stayed here once. It was our princesses' idea. She wanted to stay "where the animals are." Gotta love that marketing! So we booked a room here against my better judgement. I love OKW and didn't want to move, so we compromised and did two nights at AKL, the rest at OKW.
Was I ever surprised. AKL is one of the most exciting, elegant, and comfortable resorts I have been to and I have been to a lot. The architecture is unbelievable. The vaulted ceilings and African design are so beautiful, you feel like you are on some private safari in Kenya. I couldn't believe the lobby. It was ginourmous, yet cozy, with little seating areas placed all around cocktail tables and fireplaces. Our room was great and we got upgraded to a pool view. Fabulous. The zero entry pool was a gift for a mom of a toddler. All the little ones were able to walk right in and splash to their hearts content. And the animals all around us were breathtaking.
I felt like a fancy Jane Goodall, holding a Midori Margarita! The resort is staffed by hotel management students from Africa and they give you a wonderful overview of their various countries. As an African-American family, it was so wonderful to experience not one, but two delicious restaurants (Jiko and Boma) featuring the cuisine of the Motherland.
We went off season, so the resort was not swarming with people. It's large and a bit away from the other theme parks(except Animal Kingdom is a short drive) but it's worth it to feel like you are on your own little bit of an African savannah. Read reviews by Mcmillanmom
Fitness Center Works for Me! on 5/25/2006 by Ahnalira The ambience at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is very soothing for me. I enjoy coming out of the bright sun into the darker, cooler interior... just like it would be in Africa, Im guessing And communing with the animals on the savannah is a special treat. But what really floats my boat is the fitness center.. LOVE the elliptical trainers and weight machines and the eucalyptus steam room is a slice of heaven, imho I like to do a morning at the Animal Kingdom and then spend the afternoon enjoying the amenities of the resort. Love the animals! on 10/12/2005 by Ser Alan This is one of my favorite WDW
resorts! If you get a room with a Savannah view you can watch the
animals all through the day; even at night. We have stayed here several
times now, and I just love it. The only down side is that the
rooms tend to be a bit on the dark side, I guess its that authentic
African looking furniture that is so dark.
Also the concierge here is very nice, you get a great view of the
spectacular lobby and they even have a real nice latte machine.

AKL 2004 Hurricane season on 10/3/2004 by Christee Wow! what a great resort. It was everything I read about and more. You have to experience this resort to get the feeling that it gives. It is beautiful, big and lots of animals. I just loved the atmosphere at this resort. I spent 38 hours inside this resort because of Hurricane Jeanne and it still had a lot to offer even with thousands of other guests hanging around, too. As they say at the AKL, let the adventure begin. Great resort! Read reviews by Christee
cool on 7/19/2002 by Susan:) I stayed here in October 2001 with two friends. We had gotten a good deal, and we were excited because we usually stay at moderate or value resorts, so this was our first deluxe! We got a room with a queen bed and a set of bunk beds. I was kind of disappointed in the room because it wasnt any bigger than a moderate room. The bathroom area was placed differently which formed a longer entry area, but the bathroom itself was the same size and the bed area was the same also. The nicer part was that we had a balcony overlooking the pool area. The resort is neat with the African theming, and you can look out onto the savannah and see giraffes and other animals. My favorite thing was the couches in the lobby with the neat African pillows. The lobby was really cool, but the room did not impress me very much. I would rather pay less for a moderate resort, but if you have the money, this one is nice. Except the buses are all on one side of the building, and if your room is on the other side, it can be quite a hike! Read reviews by Susan:)
